Everest (ebook)
“Everest” brings together the insights of the insider and the traveler to paint a picture of the people and places of the Himalayas.
Singer-songwriter and poet Almond Syiem was born in the gentle hills of Northeast India, not far from the steep, rugged and diverse ranges of the Himalayan mountains. This landscape is very much a passion of his heart and this infuses his poetry with feeling, pathos and tragedy. But underlying all this is love, love for people he met in this snow peaked part of the world, love for men and women who live in anonymity.
George Tetlow, book designer, illustrator and lecturer has trekked extensively through Zanskar and Ladakh in the Himalayan mountains. He also traveled to Nepal, Tibet and China.
Inspired by these sojourns George has produced and exhibited many fine artworks including the images in this book.
The poems in this ebook are read by Almond’s daughter, Beth Joy Syiem.
